Procedure

IMC uses many techniques for microbial remediation depending on the surface where the contamination exists. Porous surfaces are typically the most susceptible to contamination and may require the removal and disposal of carpet, insulation, ceiling tile, plaster wall board or gypsum, floor glue, fabrics, etc.

One of the most important steps include containment of the work area to prevent the spread of the contamination. IMC utilizes HEPA-filtered (high efficiency particulate air) scrubbers to control the air pressure of a work area and HEPA-filtered vacuums to provide source removal of any contamination. Other protocol common to the asbestos and lead abatement industries are utilized to isolate and maintain a work area. After a complete source removal of the contamination, sometimes it is necessary to treat the affected areas with an antimicrobial coating product, or a sanitization chemical product.

IMC technicians are trained in various abatement and chemical treatment procedures and comply with all OSHA Safety requirements including Respiratory protection, Hazardous Materials communication, and proper Personal Protective Equipment. Site specific Safety Analyses are performed to ensure worker and occupant safety.

IMC follows the latest industry standards and guidelines specified in the IICRC S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, Dec. 2003). For more information on the methodology and remediation of mold and microbial contamination, please contact an IMC representative.
